Player of the Week

Sophomore Casey Hipp has been a first and third baseman for the Fire. With a fielding percentage of .956 and a batting average of .404, it’s clear that Hipp’s strength is in the field. An all-time high for Hipp was against the University of Northwestern when she had 10 putouts and one assist. Hipp has 104 putouts on the season and only two errors.

Last season, Hipp had a total of 187 putouts and a fielding percentage of .985 and a batting average of .299. Hipp also had 24 RBIs and 17 runs. Her high in 2018 was also 10 putouts, which she already reached within the first 11 games of the 2019 season.

In Hipp’s 2018 season, she ranked seventh in the Most RBI section of the single season records. This was with 24 RBI overall last season. Hipp also ranked ninth for most walks last season, totaling out at 15.

The team has a record of 4-16 thus far and look to improve throughout the season. The Fire will face off against St. Norbert College in a doubleheader at home on April 6.
